Dear Alumni and Friends, It's something I often say about ILR. Those of you who know me have probably heard me say it many times: ILR is an amazing place. Our graduates are everywhere, working in all kinds of organizations and in so many fields. In this issue of Advance, you read about an attorney who leads a highprofile media business, a celebrated filmmaker and a consultant whose expertise is working with startup companies. Their trajectories have been influenced by ILR, which has helped shape the futures of labor and policy leaders, human resource executives, CEOs and countless other professionals who have come through the doors of Ives Hall. What is it about the ILR experience that prepares students for success, no matter what they decide to do? In my opinion, it is our great faculty, intelligent students who are dedicated to learning and making a difference, and a curriculum that offers global perspective. Our alumni play a role, too, by sharing expertise as guest lecturers, mentors and recruiters, and by giving to the ILR Annual Fund. Whether it's $25 or $25,000, annual giving directly supports the work of our faculty and students, year after year, in meaningful ways critical to the school's future. We can use annual funds to offer more research support to a superstar faculty member we're trying to recruit, or to provide travel funds to help a student experience a new culture through global service learning. A robust annual fund means more opportunities for students to expand learning, gain practical experience and engage with the world. Dean Katz says that "entrepreneurial" and "innovative" are good words to describe ILR, and I would agree. Thanks for being a part of the ILR community, and for helping us continue to evolve, grow and innovate. Like I said before, and I'll keep saying it: ILR is amazing. And, so are ILR's alumni, parents and friends.
